Jesus Walks on The Water

Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

This week's Bible discussion is based on the Gospel of Matthew 14: 22 - 33. This scripture talks about Jesus walking on water to his disciples  between 3 o'clock and  6 o'clock in the morning. It is summarised  as follows:

  • Jesus came to his disciples walking on the water.
  • When the disciples saw him they were afraid but Jesus told them not to be afraid by revealing himself to them. Peter spoke up, "Lord, if it is really you, order me to come out on the water to you."
  • "Come!" answered Jesus. So Peter got out of boat and started walking on the water to Jesus.
  • But when Peter noticed the strong wind, he was afraid and started to sink down in the water. "Save me, Lord!" he cried.
  • At once Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him and said, "what little faith you have! Why did you doubt?"
  • They got into the boat and the wind died down.

Based on the story here, we see that Peter had faith that, if Jesus order him to walk on the water then  that is possible, so he requested Jesus for that and surely Jesus told him to come which he did walk on the water. However, he was afraid soon after walking on the water as he saw the strong wind and he lose focus on Jesus and so he was sinking.

But as he was sinking, he cried out to Jesus to save him which Jesus did reached out and saved him and they both went into the boat.

In our everyday lives, we must have faith in Jesus Christ. That whatever we ask him through prayer can be answered over time. So all we have to do is to stay focus and do not lose focus on any circumstances like Peter did which caused him to sink in the water. So always be focused with faith in Christ and we may receive what we ask for.

The strong wind and sinking in water in this scripture simplify  the sin, troubles, temptations and tough times we face in our lives. We must know that we always walking on sin. Sin is with us and we grow with sin.  If we lose focus on Jesus then we will fall into sin. If  we stay focus in Jesus prayerfully then we will overcome any situation in life and always walk on water/sin and never sink in it. But if we lose focus in Jesus we will fall into sin.

So when we fall into sin, Jesus is very near and ready to help us. He never leaves us. Therefore, we must call/cry to Jesus for help and surely he will save us and rescue us from whatever struggles we face in life and most importantly forgive our sins and save us and will take us into his boat and we will be sailing safely home with him.

May the Lord bless this words and add more to your thoughts now and forever,
